Reminds me of seeing a street performer play some jazz or blues on the corner of New Orleans.

Ok this might not be New Orleans, but musicians do need to practice non-stop to maintain their chops and a feel for music.
Musicians have a deep desire to get better and better no matter how old they are, so they practice, day in and day out when they are not performing or recording.

Here is a 1960's king trumpet. Many great jazz and blues musicians have played such an instrument as well as orchestra players.
